Hello,
New to the forum, but have been using mp3DirectCut for years. Fantastic utility!
But recently I have been saving a 128 kbps mp3 ShoutCast stream via CastRipper and letting the files get very large (as large as 2.67 GB so far) before I stop and re-start CastRipper.
The problem is that when I load these very large mp3s into mp3DirectCut (currently using v2.09 on WinXPsp3) they will only navigate and play properly up to approx 2 GB then they fast forward through the file without playing any sound.
(I'm having to estimate the 2 GB size based on the time in the visual graph when mp3DirectCut kicks into fast forward mode (approx 37 hrs 22 min 6 sec) and dividing that time by the reported total time length of the file, and multiplying the result by total GB. Also, my next largest mp3 stream file below 2 GB (1.79 GB) works fine in mp3DirectCut.)
However, the mp3DirectCut FAQ indicates, "mp3DirectCut should handle files up to 4 GB. But this is not tested by the author."
I haven't yet tried splitting the file to get each half below 2 GB (although I suspect that will work).
One additional comment: I noticed if I load one of these large mp3 files into Media Player Classic Home Cinema, it appears to play correctly even in the last part of the file, but the content that is actually playing is way off in the displayed time from where it should be (I didn't write down the exact info, but at something like 40 hours on the display time, the content is actually from maybe 8-10 hours into the recorded stream). So it seems there may be a problem with such large mp3 files in general, rather than just a limitation of mp3DirectCut.
So I'm wondering if anyone can clarify this. Might there actually be a 2 GB limit? Or are there some settings I don't know about that would allow up to 4 GB?
Thanks! |
