1by1 taking 95% CPU?

I start 1by1 from the command line, passing it a directory. Sometimes it takes 95% CPU, and the sound is broken up, dropping out.

Restarting 1by1 sometimes cures this, sometimes not.

The directory I pass 1by1 has no sub-folders.

Any ideas?

I've found out that this only happens with the "Big View" open. If I have Big View and VU meter the CPU usage goes up to 90%. If I remove the VU meter, it drops to about 60%. If I close it, CPU usage drops to 5% or so.
